Some Details for You

Hello everyone! Camp Meeting week is finally here and we are excited! We wanted to post a few updates/reminders for everyone that is headed to Clarksville over the weekend.

  • We have several activities outdoors, so don't forget to throw in your lawn chairs before you head this way.  It is supposed to be hot and sunny several days this week, so sunscreen (and also bug spray...)would be good to have on hand.
  • There are laundry facilities in all the dorms for those staying on campus.
  • If you are staying on campus, your room will be provided only with a shower curtain, a trash can, and toilet paper.  There is a full kitchen, but you will need to bring anything you would like to use in it, including pots and pans, coffee maker, utensils, etc. There IS a microwave in each building.
  • If you are staying in the dorms, and you did not request linens for the $3 charge, you will need to bring your bedding and towels with you.
  • There is Wi-Fi access on campus.  When you are in the residence halls, you will need to connect to UofOzarks.  Anywhere else on campus, you will need to connect to Ozarkscampus.
  • There is a coffee shop located in Robson Library that will be open Tuesday-Saturday from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. that also serves some breakfast items.
  • The forecast for Saturday is hot! The volleyball tournament will begin early to try to beat some of the heat.  A generous member has also arranged for some bounce houses as well as sno-cones and cotton candy to be out by the volleyball tournament, so there will be some fun entertainment for the younger crowd as well that day!
  • When you arrive, check-in will be in Seay Student Center, located directly across from the tennis courts on College Avenue.  This is also where all services and meals will be held unless otherwise noted on the schedule. We ask those that are physically capable to park in the Mabee Sports Complex parking lot and save the parking across the street from the student center for those that need a closer spot.
  • If you are staying in the dorms and  you ordered a t-shirt, your shirt will be in your bag along with check-in information and keys.  If you ordered a shirt and are staying elsewhere, you will be able to pick those up after any service in the Seay Student Center.
We are looking forward to the lessons of the week ahead and the fellowship too! If you need anything at all, we are here to help you and can be reached at the following numbers:

Just A Few More Days...

There are just a few more days until the deadline to make reservations for the summer meeting.  Please remember that even if you are not staying on campus, you will still need to make reservations for all meals and snacks that you will be joining us for by the June 1st deadline. It is very important that we have an accurate count to give the University, even if it is a meal that there is no charge for, so please get your reservations in.

To make reservations, contact Tera or Daniel Reeves at:
Phone: 479.214.4597
Email: tkreeves15@yahoo.com

A few more pieces of information:

Monday and Saturday have been designated as T-shirt Days, so for those who have ordered t-shirts, please plan to wear them on one (or both!) of those days.

Also, we will have access to most of the outdoor areas at the University including an intramural field, volleyball court, tennis courts, and a track, so pack up  your sports equipment and bring it along if any of those activities interest you.  You may also want to bring lawn chairs for the days when we have outdoor activities.

Camp Meeting UPDATES!

The Summer Meeting is fast approaching and all of us at Clarksville are getting excited! We have some updates to share with you as well as some reminders.

First of all, we want to remind everyone that the deadline to make reservations and send in money for dorms, meals, and t-shirts is June 1st.  Unless otherwise stated in the previous post detailing the menu for the week, all meals are $5.00 with hopes that donations will offset the extra expense, as has been the case in previous years.  Children 5 and under will eat free, but please go ahead and make a reservation for them and state their age so we will have an accurate count. Please refer back to this post for more information regarding meals. To make your meal or dorm reservations or order t-shirts, you may email Daniel or Tera Reeves at tkreeves15@yahoo.com or by phone at 479-214-4597.  Money should be sent by June 1st to:

Daniel Reeves
190 PR 3437
Clarksville, AR 72830

For those of you who will be coming on Saturday, July 2nd, we will be available to begin checking in our guests that are staying on campus at 3:00 in the Seay Student Center.  If you ordered a t-shirt, you will also receive it upon check-in.

We are excited to announce that Wednesday's activity will be a Hillbilly Hootenanny, complete with activities such as a hillbilly photo booth, toilet seat toss and a peach pit spitting contest.  There will be activities to keep those of all ages entertained, so come ready for some fun! Hillbilly attire is strongly recommended!

Thursday, following the men's breakfast, a group of us will be traveling about 30 minutes to Haw Creek Falls in the beautiful Ozarks for a hike.  This is not a difficult trail, but Arkansas is hot and humid in July, so consider your limitations when deciding if you want to participate.  There is a swimming hole to cool off in along the trail, so bring a (modest) change of clothes if you think you might want to swim. At the end of the hike, we will have lunch at the Haw Creek Recreation Area.  A box lunch will be provided for anyone that wants to join us. Please mention when you are making your reservations if you plan to be there so we'll have plenty for everyone.

 More details coming soon!

Dorm Accommodations

We will have on-campus dorms available for those who want to stay close to the campus and the week’s activities.  These units are located across the street from the building where we will be holding our services and having our meals.  We will have access to two different facilities:

MacLean Residence Hall – This will be reserved for Our Teenagers and their parents. This is a traditional style college dorm and can hold up to 147 people. Most rooms will hold two people.  These rooms have two twin beds separated by a small common area.  There are also a few single rooms available, but they are very limited. We will be housing boys and girls on different levels, with adults staying on a level in between.  There are two large bathrooms on every floor.  We will have access to all the bathrooms on each floor (4 floors total).  Each floor has a formal common lounge with a kitchen and the basement has a rec room with ping-pong, foosball, etc. Common areas, including bathrooms, will be cleaned by the staff during the week.   There is a laundry facility in the basement available as well.

Please note the following:

-          This is an older facility.  It was built in 1927 and has been remodeled many times, but is not as “modern” as new campus dormitories.

-          There will be no chaperones, so parents will be responsible for their teenagers.

Apartment Complex – These will be reserved for our older brothers/sisters and for younger families. These units are newer and have two levels.  These have more of a “home like” environment.  We have access to three units and each unit has a max capacity of 20 people.  These units will be booked on a first come, first serve basis.  Each apartment unit has four wings.  Each wing features two double rooms that share a “Jack and Jill” bathroom and two single rooms that share one single bathroom.  There is a common area on each floor that has a kitchen with two microwaves, two large refrigerators and dishwasher.   There are also free laundry facilities in these buildings.  Please state when you are making your reservations if you are unable to navigate stairs so that we can accommodate you with a ground floor room.

Cost – $18 per person/per night at both buildings. Children 5 and under are free.

Other information – The University will be providing shower curtains, a trash can in each bathroom, and toilet paper in all dorms.  You will be responsible for bringing your own bedding, towels and any kitchen supplies such as coffee makers, etc.  The University also has linens available for $3 per person, including bedding and towels.

Reservations – To make dorm, meal, and t-shirt reservations, you may email Daniel and Tera Reeves at tkreeves15@yahoo.com or by phone at 479-214-4597. The reservation deadline is June 1st.

Speakers Announced!

The City Park Church of Christ in Clarksville, Arkansas, will be hosting the annual summer camp meeting on the campus of the University of the Ozarks.  We want to invite you and your family to join us for a week of Christian fellowship and spiritual revival.

Our theme was taken from an old Irish hymn written in the 8th century.  It begins, "Be thou my vision, oh Lord of my heart." It is that vision that we wish to present.  In Proverbs 29:18, we read, "Where there is no vision, the people perish."  Our goal is to present a positive vision to our children of our God, His Word, and the wisdom of choosing His vision to be our vision.

We have chosen ten speakers, who will present various aspects of God's vision for His people.  We have every confidence that these brethren will present messages of inspiration that will renew our spirit and dedication to the Lord.  Below is a schedule of our speakers and their messages.

Please join us for a week of fellowship and spiritual revival!  We will be updating frequently as we have new information available regarding housing, meals, activities, and hotel accommodations.  If you have any questions, feel free to call the following numbers or visit our 2016 Summer Camp Meeting Facebook page.
