The last few days!

Hello everyone! We are down to the last few days before our summer meeting begins.  We hope that you are all packing up and looking forward to a wonderful week! Just a few notes:

  • We have added roller skating to the schedule for 11:00-1:00 Wednesday following the Men's Breakfast.  If this is something you or your family might be interested in, you may want to throw some extra socks in your suitcase.  The children at Clarksville are looking forward to this and it should be a lot of fun!
  • There is a McHike on the schedule for Monday morning.  This is our coined term for walking to McDonalds from the University.  There are two trails, one that is paved and one that is not.  The paved version is a very flat, nice walking trail and is easy to push a stroller on. We will hike to McDonalds for breakfast and then hike back.  However, anyone that prefers not to do the hike is welcome to meet the group for breakfast!
  • There are some outdoor activities planned, so don't forget to throw in your lawn chairs before you head this way.  It is supposed to be hot and sunny several days this week with a possibility of thunderstorms thrown in, so sunscreen and an umbrella (and maybe bug spray too...)would be good to have on hand.
  • There are free laundry facilities in all the dorms for those staying on campus.
  • If you are staying on campus, your room will be provided only with a shower curtain, a trash can, and toilet paper.  There is a full kitchen, but you will need to bring anything you would like to use in it, including pots and pans, coffee maker, utensils, etc. There IS a microwave in each building.
  • If you are staying in the dorms, and you did not request linens for the $3 charge, you will need to bring your bedding and towels with you.
  • There is Wi-Fi access on campus.  When you are in the residence halls, you will need to connect to UofOzarks.  Anywhere else on campus, you will need to connect to Ozarkscampus.
  • There is a coffee shop located in Robson Library that will be open from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. that also serves some breakfast items.
  • The forecast for Saturday is hot! Be prepared if you are planning to hike to Haw Creek Falls.
  • Check-in begins at 2:00 Saturday, July 1st. When you arrive, check-in will be downstairs in Seay Student Center, located directly across from the tennis courts on College Avenue.  This is also where all services and meals will be held unless otherwise noted on the schedule. We ask those that are physically capable to park in the Mabee Sports Complex parking lot and save the parking across the street from the student center for those that need a closer spot.
  • If you are staying in the dorms and  you ordered a t-shirt, your shirt will be in your bag along with check-in information and keys.  If you ordered a shirt and are staying elsewhere, you will be able to pick those up after any service in the Seay Student Center.
If you need anything at all during the week, we are here to help you and can be reached at the following numbers:

Dorm Accommodations

We will have on-campus dorms available for those who want to stay close to the campus and the week’s activities.  We will have access to two different facilities:

King Residence Hall – This will be reserved for our teenagers and their parents. This is a traditional style college dorm. Most rooms contain two twin beds and will hold two people.  There are also two rooms that will hold 4 each.  We will be housing boys and girls on different levels, with adults staying on a level in between.  There are two large dorm-style bathrooms on every floor.  We will have access to all the bathrooms on each floor (3 floors total).  There is a common area with a television, kitchen, and ping-pong table.  Common areas, including bathrooms, will be cleaned by the staff during the week.  There are also two coin-free laundry facilities in this building.
Please note the following:
-        This is a newer building than the one we were offered last year.  It is slightly further from the Student Center, but not across the street and still just a short walk away. It is located behind the library for those of you who remember where that is from last year.
-        There will be no chaperones, so parents will be responsible for their teenagers.

Apartment Complex – These will be reserved for our older brothers/sisters and for younger families. These units are newer and have two levels.  These have more of a “home like” environment.  We have access to three units and each unit has a max capacity of 20 people.  These units will be booked on a first come, first serve basis.  Each apartment unit has four wings.  Each wing features two double rooms that share a “Jack and Jill” bathroom and two single rooms that share one single bathroom.  There is a common area on each floor that has a kitchen with two microwaves, two large refrigerators and dishwasher.   There are also free laundry facilities in these buildings.  Please state when you are making your reservations if you are unable to navigate stairs so that we can accommodate you with a ground floor room.

Cost – $18 per person/per night at both buildings. Children 5 and under are free.

Other information – The University will be providing shower curtains, a trash can in each bathroom, and toilet paper in all dorms.  You will be responsible for bringing your own bedding, towels, and any kitchen supplies such as coffee makers, etc.  The University also has linens available for $3 per person, including bedding and towels.

Meals and T-shirts – All meals listed will again be $5, with children 5 and under eating free. The BBQ lunch on July 4th and the lunch provided at Haw Creek Falls are at no charge, but please don't forget to make your reservation for those  meals as well! More information on the menu will be updated as soon as we receive that from the university.  T-shirts will be $10 again and the design will be posted soon.

Reservations – To make reservations, you may email Daniel and Tera Reeves at tkreeves15@yahoo.com or you can call or text 479-214-4597 by June 1st.  Please send money by June 8th to: c/o Daniel Reeves 190 PR 3437, Clarksville, AR 72830.

Just A Few More Days...

There are just a few more days until the deadline to make reservations for the summer meeting.  Please remember that even if you are not staying on campus, you will still need to make reservations for all meals and snacks that you will be joining us for by the June 1st deadline. It is very important that we have an accurate count to give the University, even if it is a meal that there is no charge for, so please get your reservations in.

To make reservations, contact Tera or Daniel Reeves at:
Phone: 479.214.4597
Email: tkreeves15@yahoo.com

A few more pieces of information:

Monday and Saturday have been designated as T-shirt Days, so for those who have ordered t-shirts, please plan to wear them on one (or both!) of those days.

Also, we will have access to most of the outdoor areas at the University including an intramural field, volleyball court, tennis courts, and a track, so pack up  your sports equipment and bring it along if any of those activities interest you.  You may also want to bring lawn chairs for the days when we have outdoor activities.
